As a trusted Nissan dealership near Painesville, OH, we are passionate about making certain that all of your vehicle maintenance needs are up to par. One of these important maintenance tasks that our service center can provide is putting winter tires on your vehicle. But when is it considered the best time to put your winter tires on?

Most people believe that the time to change your tires is at the first sight of snowfall. However, this is not the best practice. In fact, the best time to change your winter tires is way before you see the first sign of snow. The best time to change tires is when the temperature begins to drop. A drop in temperature will harden the rubber in your tire, therefore making it more susceptible to busting or deflating. The hardening of rubber typically happens once the temperature falls below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, so when temperatures tend to fall below that mark, then it is time to change your all-season tires over to winter tires.

If you are using summer tires, then you will want to change your tires over even sooner because these kinds of tires are more inclined to freezing. Frozen tires can wear out easier and can be unsafe, so prioritize changing the summer tires over before it reaches below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

When Jack Frost begins to take hold of the Mentor, OH area, be sure to bring your Nissan car over to our service center so our dealership can put on your winter tires and you can be safe this winter season. We hope to see you soon!
