Here at our Painesville-are dealership, Mentor Nissan, we love learning about the latest vehicles that the Nissan brand is putting out on the market. In this case, it is an overseas vehicle that the automaker is debuting next week. The brand’s answers to minicars, the Nissan Micra (or Nissan March in Latin America and Asia) will be debuting its much buzzed about 2017 version at the 2016 Paris Auto Show, which is set to begin next week. The Nissan Micra is popular around the world due to its extreme affordability and convenient compactness. Available in Canada, Australia, China, India, Mexico, UK, Thailand, Republic of Ireland, and Taiwan, Nissan has not yet brought the Micra over to the US.

With an MSRP of $9,988 for the base trim level, the Nissan Micra is one of the cheapest cars on the market in some of the countries that it is available. Although the model has the label of a minicar, it is actually roomier and more comfortable than a lot of its competitors on the market. The sizing actually ranges somewhere in between a minicar and a subcompact vehicle.

The 2016 Nissan Micra saw styling that was similar to a hatchback and featured a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which can reach up to 109 horsepower. Available in trim levels S, SV, and SR, the 2016 Nissan Micra had a few comfort features, such as the Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System, USB Connection, and RearView Monitor.

The 2017 Nissan Micra will have a completely new body design, opting for a sportier look to appeal to a younger and trendier crowd. The new body will be long, wide, and much lower to the ground than its predecessor. Sleek and distinctive headlights paired with swift crease lines on the side give it sportier characteristics, and an added roof spoiler give the new Nissan Micra a dramatic makeover that is sure to increase the popularity. Maybe with the new design, we can see the Nissan Micra eventually make its way to America, but that is to be determined.

In the meantime, if you are in the Willoughby, OH area, then make your way to Mentor Nissan and talk to one of our experts about our smaller new Nissan cars, such as the compact and fuel-efficient 2016 Nissan Versa Note. We also have a large inventory of affordable pre-owned Nissan cars, so if you are looking for an older model or to save money, then talk to one of our Nissan dealers about that and they will be happy to show you what we have. We hope to see you soon!
